01) Alex Kidd (USA) - Unholy Grail (Lazy Rich Remix) [Crude Trax]
Originally produced by the rising star "Alex Kidd (USA)" as a single, Unholy Grail conquered thousands of music fans with its massive sound, that bassline that could rip you apart if it was made for annihilation, luckily for us, its destiny was to fill dance floors across the globe. It got to #1 position in the Electro House chart at Beatport.com, something that not many producers have accomplished. Then five months later, the remixes package was put out, featuring 4 of them, and the one that made the biggest impact to me was the remix by Lazy Rich. Bellow a mini interview, and with that, I finish my mentions on my top 20 tunes of 2010, with the top tune, being the very first Electro House track to be listed as number 1 in my "Best Of" chart. :)
DM: Unholy Grail, probably the ultimate track that defines Alex Kidd (USA) sound, very few can remix a tune of this caliber and actually improve it, was it a challenge to remix such a tremendous original composition?
LR: Yeh it was actually, and I found there wasn't really anywhere I could go with it except even harder and more intense - as such it's one of the most full on tracks I've done and I haven't had that many opportunities to play it out.
DM: With the pass of the years, we have witness the songs of our fathers being revamped into new music styles, be it the 90's house music, Trance, Rock, or Electro House music, Wolfgang Gartner with "5th Symphony", Alex Kidd (USA) with "Unholy Grail", how about you? Have you ever thought about blending a classical tune with your own magic?
LR: Yeh I have certainly thought about it, however I feel the whole classical thing is pretty much 'done' now.
